Are We Still Independent?
A single day arrives in a while,
Professed as 'independence day'.
A day for performing formality,
Of remembering those who fought & died for nation.
The only day of celebration as a custom,
For so called freed from English.
The beautiful morning arrives,
& with an eye blink, day ends too.
Without a single realisation that,
"Are we really independent?".
"Does we really experience & cherish freedom?"
Freedom from uncivilisation poverty & illiteracy.
Does we ever realise?
We only got independence from English-men's rule & dominance.
But do we got freedom,
From their culture, outfits & lifestyles.
& the irony is, earlier objection was persisted,
But now acceptance blindly occurred,
Ending up accepting them superior.
I, fail to understand,
When copying culture is easy for us.
Then why can't we inherit mindsets & techniques,
For progress educationally, socially & economically.
Breaking the barrier of orthodox-nature.
We copied,
Celebration of abrupt, useless days which earlier never used to.
Birthdays, valentines day, friendship day ....
We boozed on their music,
& copied ascents & frame in our lyrics making them up-coming fashion.
Transformed our outfits,
To the extension of vulgarity.
& noticeably or unnoticeably,
Transformed mode of communication as English.
We proudly addresses,
That we are independent.
But doesn't really assess,
Earlier a bond of brotherhood in different religion existed.
Which in spite of alleged freedom,
Never seen again ever.
In spite techniques of polarisation & divide & rule practiced oftenly till now.
Can't we get freedom,
To remove hatred from hearts.
& breaking barriers of division formed by them.
Clearing the drawbacks of society.
Why accepting still the paradigms set by them,
& not forming our own inspirations, goals & ideals.
At least they(our grandpas) protested unitedly,
With all passion & whole-heart.
Can't we be united again & protest in spite of complaining.
